This week’s flower in my vase is a stylishly simple white narcissus (I am guessing it is Thalia?).

I don’t usually pick daffs from the garden as I love to see them growing in swathes, but these stems had been knocked over by the weekend’s hailstorm.

I love their purity and freshness.

And the almost iridescent silkiness of the petals.

The genus has around 150 bulbous perennials and there are four national collections of Narcissus in the UK.

A large selection of bulbs is available mail order from September to December here.

Enjoy your week.
